Biofuels

Joe led the development for a client’s biodiesel production facilities throughout the US. The first project, with a budget of over $130 million, consisted of two 90 million gallon per year biodiesel trains, the largest biodiesel production facility in North America. Roles: Project Development and EPC Contract Management.

During a second tour with AES Joe focused on the evaluation of potential biofuel acquisitions including ethanol investments in the US and South America. Role: Acquisitions.

During one of the boom cycles for biofuels, Joe was responsible for the development of a series of waste-to-ethanol projects. While the projects were never built, it was a valuable experience to learn about the waste business and the greenhouse gas impacts of converting municipal solid waste to ethanol.
